About the Materials
Only domestically sourced Japanese wood is used. Selecting suitable material requires time and care, as grain, hardness, and color are all closely examined. Because the blocks are unpainted, the natural colors of the wood create a gentle, organic palette. Their solid weight and strength make them reliable for repeated stacking and long-term use.
How to Play
With standardized dimensions, children can easily align blocks both vertically and horizontally. Even as toys evolve, we always return to this basic form — the foundation of building play. These blocks encourage open-ended exploration, skill development, creative satisfaction, and cooperative play with others. They are a true staple toy that grows with the child.

Experiment Conducted at a Nursery
In a nursery setting, two classes were given different toys: one received battery-powered plastic train sets, and the other received wooden building blocks. On the first day, the moving toys attracted more attention. From the second day onward, however, the children naturally gravitated toward the blocks, improving their stacking skills and enjoying creative construction. These blocks truly are the “king of toys,” offering freedom without prescribed rules.
In contrast, toys that rely on movement often lose appeal quickly and may be handled roughly or break. This is why many nurseries and kindergartens continue to choose traditional wooden blocks as foundational tools in their learning environments.

Hinoki Storage Box
