About Us

Made with Care,
Since 1986

We create wooden toys and furniture that children love, and parents trust. Since 1986, we have been crafting in Japan using traceable, locally sourced wood.

Where It All Began

From childcare worker to craftsman

While working as a nursery teacher at a facility for severely physically and mentally disabled children, the founder realized how fragile playtime could be.

Even a brief moment of looking away could put a child at risk. Wanting to change this reality, he began making wooden toys.

This experience became the foundation of NAKAYOSHI Library and continues to guide
everything we make today.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

In a library, you can find books you may never choose yourself, but that someone else truly needs.

We believe wooden toys are the same. Even if a toy reaches just one child and brings a smile, it has meaning.

With that belief, we founded NAKAYOSHI Library to create thoughtful toys that enrich the experience of raising children.

Our Vision and Mission

Creating value from forests

We honor the forest resources nurtured by past generations and use their gifts to create new products and services for the future.

Creating a fulfilling life for children around the world

We strive to create toys and furniture that bring joy to children and families, wherever they live.

Our Passion for Manufacturing

Products You Can Trust from Every Angle

From sourcing materials to planning, design, engineering, manufacturing, and sales, we handle everything in-house.

Rather than simply buying and selling products, we take pride in creating and refining our own ideas.

We promise to use only materials we have carefully examined and trust to be safe and reliable.

Handcrafted Products

We primarily use Japanese cypress from Kochi and Hyogo, along with carefully selected hardwoods from Gifu, Nara, Hokkaido, and Akita.

All of our wood is over 70 years old, with fine grain and rich character. While machines are used, the final finish is done by hand, bringing out a smooth texture
that machines alone cannot achieve.

Using 15 Types of Japanese Wood

We carefully select and use more than 15 types of Japanese wood, depending on each product and part. Few manufacturers keep such a wide variety of wood on hand and use them across both toys and furniture. Japanese wood is naturally rich in color, allowing us to enjoy its beauty without using stains or artificial finishes.

What We Mean by Richness

Little Robot Little Robot

To us, true richness is not about luxury or owning many things. It comes from caring for what you love over time.

By passing wooden toys from one generation to the next, we hope to nurture care for both things and people.

We create products that can be repaired, cherished, and loved even more 10 or 20 years from now.
