Animal Push Car
The Animal Push Car is one of Nakayoshi Library’s very first creations. It has been carefully crafted since the early days of our workshop and remains a beloved, long-selling wooden toy.
Crafted from Japanese Wood
The main body is made from cherry and horse chestnut wood, while the wheels are crafted from cherry wood. Accents of zelkova or beech add subtle color and warmth, creating a gentle and balanced appearance.
The crafting process begins with carefully selecting each piece of wood. Horse chestnut and maple, used for the lighter-colored parts, are especially sensitive to moisture and tend to darken if not properly dried. For this reason, we take great care from the log stage onward, allowing the wood to dry slowly and naturally before shaping.
The Animal Push Car is most often chosen as a gift. We are deeply grateful when people tell us how adorable they find it. Once, while visiting a café, we noticed an old wooden car—clearly well played with—gently displayed in a window. Seeing it still cherished long after use brought us great joy.
Even after a child outgrows it, we hope this toy will continue to be enjoyed as a decorative piece. A small bell attached to the car produces a soft, pleasant jingling sound as it rolls, adding to its simple charm.
